When my nephew was born, this cartoon, the Backyardians was my show! The cartoon is about a team of friends who take journeys to imaginary places in their backyard. You can call me Uniqua! My backyard is a safe space to work, create and explore my style. I do not take the comfort of my home for granted. There are many people who do not have this same luxury. Despite…

My style includes sexy second skin silhouettes. I balance the sex appeal with classic, contemporary staple items. My wardrobe also includes sporty and feminine pieces. I have a susceptibility to bright colours, patterns and texture. I also has an affinity for crop tops.
Will I ever get tired of animal print?! Based on my post here and here it is a blissful love affair. As much as all leather looks are on trend, good quality faux leather pieces werk! I have a tendency to gravitate towards statement pieces and I am now focusing on staples like a camel coat. I also love color like this. Texture, a print & a basic is my…
Millennial purple is a light lilac and it took the fall 2019 fashion runways by storm. Pantone announced Ultraviolet as the color of the year for 2018. Also known as melodramatic purple, the millennial purple shade is both sad and happy. Ultraviolet is a very intense shade which has muted into a light, feminine, and very wearable color for 2019-millennial purple. (more…)
There is nothing more classic than a camel coat and nothing more flattering. I beat up my previous camel coat like a UFC fighter so I had to replace it and I got this one. Whereas my original camel coat was traditional, this coat has a twist with the attached scarf. Global warming is having an effect on the weather in Toronto. It was unseasonably warm in October but now…
I've been away from my blog for several months and I missed it badly. I am slithering through 2019; sliding unsteadily on the slippery surface-the surface is better known by her nickname, life. As I navigate through my frustrations and challenges, I day dream of being a graceful figure skater, conquering the ice. Speaking of slippery, would you have guessed that I took these pictures in the rain? I hounded…
I love all animals prints and I very happy that it is on trend for FALL /WINTER 2018. So many people are afraid of animal print but I only mildly understand the hesitation. Animal print accessories is the safest route to go but I am bold and mixed zebra and cheetah. Be bold and confident by wearing an animal print. An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great…
Regardless of the official name- Toronto Caribbean Carnival, we know, love and call it Caribana. Even if you don't "play mas" or go to the parade, Toronto is buzzing with lots of parties and events the entire weekend. I love and hate planning long weekends and I didn't know what I was going to do for Caribana but I did attend one event- Wayne Warner's Carnival Brunch and Day party.…
The athletic stripes trend is still bumping! Personally, the stripes trend takes on a greater meaning. Stripes are symbolic of dedication and effort. Similarly to individuals in the military, stripes are a badge of rank or service. It is also an informal recognition of one's efforts, experience or achievements. In theory, this how influencer marketing works. Influencer marketing is a competitive sport The entrepreneurial bug is infectious; keeping this in…
I painstakingly edit, preview, tweak and revisit each blog post before I actually publish it. I pay assiduous attention to everything. For those who use WordPress, that right-hand bar holds many of my secrets. The effort I put into posts can only be outdone by a couturier. BTW- I am exaggerating however, the point remains the same- women need to tell their stories because our stories are transformative. I am…
In the early 2000's all denim outfits were a club uniform and now the Canadian Tuxedo is back! Head-to-toe denim was a BIG NO for a few years-a fashion faux pas. Now, there is something trendy and tacky about wearing all denim. As a Canadian woman, I proudly wear my plus size jeans styled as a Canadian Tuxedo! (more…)
As a plus size woman, I do a majority- probably 80% of my shopping online. I enjoy pieces from brick and mortar retailers such as Penningtons and Additionelle however I yearn for more. I was introduced to Boohoo, a junior clothing brand by bae Nadia Aboulhosnon. The online retailer carries both standard and plus size . I am plus size, nonetheless, my review goes beyond size . I am reviewing the brand and…
If you are a woman who grew up in the hood, you can probably identify with Cardi B. The term intersectional feminism, similarly as cultural appropriation, are words casually dash 'bout. I must admit that I can be aloof. In most instances my indifference is a reflection of my priorities. If it doesn't affect my pocket, my family; educate or support me, it is difficult for me to get it up. I am not Hollywood or dissing anyone. The only the cold shoulder I am giving is in this outfit. (more…)
Spring is finally here and I feel refreshed. My style is leaning more towards understated and simple styles. I am interested in neutrals and muted tones even though I love colour. Interestingly, finding a nude that compliments me is more difficult than picking a bright or neon colour. (more…)

The 10 commandants for practicing self-love are not reflective of any religious beliefs. It is only used as a literary device to demonstrate the point. The commandments are not presented in a hierarchy. These are the principles I use to guide the decisions I make regardless of my relationship status. I am not an expert or an authority. I am only a woman. (more…)
Take a sip of a cocktail mixed with excess, creativity, expression and style. Your drink is served to you in a surreal and euphoric atmosphere. In the 1970’s, Studio 54 is where fashionistas, celebrities and artists partied. I adore the fashion from the heyday of this notorious nightclub. (more…)
Grace Jones is a Jamaican singer, songwriter, lyricist, supermodel, record producer and actress. She partied during the heyday of Studio 54 in the 1970’s and the number 54 is symbolic to me.
