Colour trends: Millennial Purple vs. Ultraviolet
Millennial purple is a light lilac and it took the fall 2019 fashion runways by storm. Pantone announced Ultraviolet as the color of the year for 2018. Also known as melodramatic purple, the millennial purple shade is both sad and happy. Ultraviolet is a very intense shade which has muted into a light, feminine, and very wearable color for 2019-millennial purple.
Shrinking Violet
The violet has long had figurative associations with qualities such as faithfulness and chastity, but especially with modesty. I have discussed my views on “modesty” here . A search for ‘shrinking violet’ brings up links to weight loss methods. Women can magically ‘ to drop dress size in one treatment’. My height and size tends to make me stand out. When it comes to expressing himself I am no shrinking violet.
Polychrome
My style is polychromatic- decorated or executed in many colors like a mural.
Polychrome is the “practice of decorating architectural elements, sculpture, etc., in a variety of colors.
Polychrome is more or less used to describe architecture and interior design. Trending colors, designs and textures in fashion inform interior design trends as well. I am borrowing the term to describe how I style my clothing and wear colour.
Simply put, purple isn’t the color for the meek.ย I love all shades of purple admittedly though, it not an easy colour to wear. My signature lip shade is aย Sephora lipstainย in shade 101 Aurora. I got this coat from Eloquii. I just love purple and I am glad that the color family is being honored and hope that the color continues to be a trend in 2020.
