Gucci in the Garden-Vanity Bag Trend
Pollen is in the air so spring is here! I’m not much of a gardener so instead I am growing my bag collection. I don’t want flowers. I want a handbag. I am using my Gucci vanity as a purse.
Vanity Bag Trend
Yes, we normally use vanity cases for storing our cosmetics and beauty essentials but she can do more than that! The vanity shape is so unique but yet it is a classic- it looks like a feminine woman’s lunch box. It is so refreshing to see this old shape being repurposed. As much as I like the style, I think that vanity cases that are marketed as purses, look forced or are too expensive. We are discussing luxury fashion so “value” and price is relative. If you don’t support luxury fashion brands, now is not the time to start a debate about my values or purchases. This is a great video that discusses the pro and cons to vanity bags in comparison to vanity cases.
Gucci Ophidia Cosmetic Case
I like classic and timeless luxury pieces. If I use it as a purse or a vanity, the Gucci Ophidia Cosmetic Case will still look fresh 10-20 years from now. The coated canvas, classic logo, gold hardware, wipeable interior and size make this vanity a great option for me. Admittedly, before I made the decision to purchase my vanity, I was concerned that my “purse” could come off like I am trying too hard. I really disliked watching people on Tik Tok converting their Louis Vuitton paper shopping bag into a tote bag. Do you think there is a difference between the DIY bag and adding a chain to a vanity?

I bought d-rings and a chain from Amazon and my vanity case is now a purse!
PRO & CONS
- CON: Frustrating to use/hard to use
- PRO: The price point of a vanity case makes luxury more accessible
- CON: It is a expensive trend
- PRO: Even if the vanity trends dies off, you still have a vanity
